NIRI Virtual Chapter Members,
Well, the Memorial Day holiday weekend in the U.S. has passed,
and the annual NIRI National Conference is coming up this week. I hope to see
many of you in Chicago. I know our Fun Committee, Bernadette and Julie, are
planning another great event to celebrate our chapter’s 20 year
anniversary.
I am also pleased to report that the board election votes have
been tabulated and you the members have confirmed the full slate of proposed
board members up for election this year. Attached is a listing of
the new 2023-2024 NIRI Board of Directors. I’d like to welcome all the
returning directors back and extend an additional thank you to our newest
Committee Members: John Bortscheller, from GlobalMeet Virtual Events, and
Caspar Tudor, from Waters Communication. We are always looking for chapter
members who are interested in assisting some of our board activities or who
want to get more involved. If you are curious, please reach out to any of
the current board members.
I also wanted to be sure that all board members are aware that
Becky Updegraph has been selected as our Volunteer of the Year and will be
honored at the NIRI Volunteer event in Chicago. I am very thankful that
Becky willingly stepped up over the course of this past year to lead both our Cafe
Chats and act as the Chair of the Professional Development committee. As
a past President of the chapter, she brings great perspective to all our
activities, and she ensured that our efforts to maintain an unequaled
professional development capability were essential to the delivery of this
year’s monthly PD events and Café Chats. She has led the PD committee in
delivering 10 PD programs and 9 Cafe Chats this year. Becky continuously
demonstrates a strong devotion to the chapter, is driven by a strong will to
ensure excellence, and models the enthusiasm which we hope for in every board
member. It is also exceptional that she will remain on the Virtual Chapter
board leading our Professional Development efforts for the upcoming program
year. Becky, thank you so very much for your hard work this year!
In addition, I want to note that it is my pleasure to hand over
leadership of the board to Jeff Goeser, our incoming President. As a
long-standing board member and most recently, our Treasurer, I am confident
Jeff will take the chapter to new highs. Over the summer, Jeff will lead the
board in planning another outstanding set of professional development,
networking, communications, and member benefits. We are coming off a very
strong year, with the chapter thriving, and everyone on the board is eager to
start our new program year in September. Watch the chapter website for
information on the timing of our first PD program and Café Chat.
